Apple Harvest

Andy went out earlier this week and found a ripe apple from our tree that had fallen on the ground. It was the first ripe one we have found. It was very exciting. This from our tree that the people who lived here before said they had never had any apples on it until last year and then it had only produced a handful. This year our apple tree was so overloaded the branches were on the ground. I had to hold them up so Andy could mow the lawn. (NO exaggeration!!!!) The tree was not pruned to hold that many apples the main branches were only an inch or two in diameter. They just didn't have the strength to stand up to the sheer numbers of apples that were growing on them.

So here is a picture of our 1st apple!

And here is the apple with a regular spoon. So it didn't grow very big, but it was DELICIOUS!!!! I don't know what kind it was, we're thinking like a Fuji or Gala, or something like that.

Later in the week Andy went out and picked up all the apples on the ground that were ripe but not nasty from being on the ground. I forgot to get a picture but we had about 15. Christiana found one that was slight larger than a golf ball, she was very excited. The tree still has some apples on it so hopefully we will get some more.
