Well another candy fest has come and gone. We have TONS more candy than I know what to do with. Andy heard a commercial on the radio that some dentists are paying a dollar per pound of candy. The temptation to get several dollars is strong and we would still have plenty of candy to have a nice sugar high. But I get ahead of myself, before Halloween we must get pumpkins.
We were late purchasing our pumpkins. We were going to do it for FHE but things kept coming up, so on Tuesday I took the kids to a farmers booth just up the road from where we live. I had driven by and seen that it still had a lot of pumpkins in the field. As the kids and I walked around, I discovered looks can be deceiving. While there were lots of pumpkins, many were funny shaped (they looked like the gourds my family used to have that the Polynesians would use to make music other than that I don't know how to describe them) or starting to go bad. But we found some to make our jack-o-lanterns.

Christiana and Hunter drew on a piece of paper what they wanted to carve their pumpkins like. After a few adjustments (to make carving easier/possible) we got started. Andy asked Jonathan what shapes he wanted for eyes, nose, and mouth and made his (using his drill to make the "perfect" little round nose.) I tried to make Jade's pumpkin look like her. And of course we had the traditional "pumpkin pie" ( the pi symbol carved into a pumpkin.)
This is the only picture I of our pumpkins. It makes me a little sad, but at least we got these. Unfortunately you can't see the "rosy" cheeks on Jade's pumpkin. I scooped out the inside all until I hit the outer orange so the candle made little circles glow in the cheeks.Friday we went TRICK-OR-TREATING!!! Thanks to Dan for taking the pictures, as I only took the ones with the kids and their pumpkins. Pictures seemed to have been forgotten about this year. We dressed up this year as the Incredibles again only we added the bad guy, Synergy. This was not the original plan, Hunter wanted to be a skeleton, but as we got the costume box out everyone decided to wear their Incredible costumes again. We went Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Gresham where we got lots of remarks and even had some people (besides Dan) take pictures of us. When we took the older kids out later (Dan and Nancy stayed with the babies so they could sleep) we had a couple house comment that they saw us downtown. That is when you know you have a memorable costume!
OUR INCREDIBLE FAMILY!!!!
Elasti-girl (Super Stretchy) (Notice the distance between my hand and my body!)
We had a lot of fun and are very glad we were able to spend some time with Dan and Nancy too!
