So, I have been a little frustrated with Christiana's schooling here at our new school. As I've talked to parents of other kids in our ward who went to this elementary school they have had mixed reviews. So I have decided it depends on the year, some years the kids are at grade level other times they are lower than grade level. I have determined by things Christiana has said and from talking to her teacher a little that her year is below grade level (most definitely her class.) Andy and I have talked quite a bit about what to do about this. We are getting to the point that a decision has to be made as we need to look at registering Hunter for kindergarten and we want them to go to the same school.
So today I did it..... I called up our current elementary school and said that I wanted to talk to someone about my daughter's and son's education and informed them I had the option of taking my kids out of the district to a "better" school but I wanted to know what they could do for me. So now I'm in trouble.....the Principal is going to call me. *eek!!*

OOOhhh you ARE in trouble! You have to tell us what he says!
Good for you! You go girl.
Yikes! Good luck with that call!
No worries, the principal should address your concerns. I did the same thing when my kids' school had the State come and talk about child abuse. My kids came home totally FREAKED out about some of the stuff they had talked about and seen. And while I know they need to address this issue, they don't need to tell my kids HORROR STORIES about what happens. Some of the things made me just ILL. So I called up the school, and they had the principal call me back. Standard proceedure. Good luck!!!!
Good for you! Way to take charge of your children's education. They'll thank you for it one day :)
Good job. It's scary but it works. We had to do the same many, MANY years ago with the kids. Scary then too but results do happen. Important thing is to hang in there and fight for what is your right- that the kids have a good (great) education based on their needs. Exceptional kids should not be ignored to bring everyone else up to par. Most kids need and want to do more then just the minimum. MIL
