When I landed back in Portland last Friday, I had less than 10 hours to get my kids and prepare for the 1st practice of the roadshow. I was the piano player for it, and since our ward had problems getting a hold of music (the book the stake provided didn't have the songs we had written the roadshow around) I was still learning the music some of which I got on Friday at the practice. Our stake wanted to try something new, so the kids couldn't know the script, songs, or anything about the roadshow until Friday at 7 (we were performing it on Saturday at 7). It was a little stressful to get a bunch of teenagers to focus and learn their lines (some of which had a LOT of lines and solos) in a 24 hr period. Then any changes in music had to be done in that time period too, which is why once again I was up until the early morning hours working out music. On Saturday, some of the wards had practiced before their 24 hr period which was frustrating, but that meant they weren't there for their allotted stage time, so we got more. I think that this really helped our roadshow flow nicely. It was interesting which wards followed the rules and which wards chose to ignore a couple. We got the award for most humorous. Since we were the ward that received our award just before the "best overall" I figure we came in second. And then if you take into account the ward that did "win" didn't follow all the rules (I think they practiced before hand, and they sung songs outside their musical) I figure we took first. (I can rationalize ANYTHING *grin*) On the whole, it was very fun and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it!
This is the only picture I got during the 24 hr practice, since I was the piano player I was busy the whole day. Lisa, however, took lots of pictures and than had her friend take pictures during the performance, so I'm hoping to get a copy of her pics and then I will post them.
