Jonathan's B-Day Party

Yesterday we celebrated Jonathan's birthday with Dan and Nancy. It was really fun. He really likes it when Dad gets out his tools, so I was quite excited to have found this little workbench and tool belt. Thinking after opening those gifts he wouldn't want to open the others (seen it at his 1st birthday) I figured we'd open Grandma and Grandpa Matheny's first. That was the end of the line. They had found this little tow truck that vibrated when you pulled the string. That was the end of opening presents. We tried to get him to open someone elses, and he'd want to. But when he realized he'd have to put the truck down that was the end of that.

So Christiana opened the tool belt (her gift) and Hunter opened the hat (his gift), and our gift of the workbench was a dud cause it was still in the box and had to be put together. G & G Matheny had found a little picnic table for the kids for the new house so they were to all open it, however by that time Jonathan had decided he really did want to open presents again so he kept pushing Christiana and Hunter out of the way. But then it was just a box so back to the truck he went. We had one more present from G & G Okeson. This is when a minor melt down happened. We finally got him to open it and Christiana (who is ever so helpful) was sitting next to him. As he was handing wrapping paper to Andy, Christiana pulled the clothes out of the paper. When Jonathan turned back around there was the paper, but no present. It was quite traumatic. We couldn't convince him that the clothes had come out of the paper cause he hadn't taken them out. I was finally able to get the paper (which he was carrying around crying and asking "where go?") and "wrapped" the clothes back up in the paper. He then opened it up and he was fine. The clothes are very cute btw Mom, thank you. Hopefully they'll fit. The summer outfit he was wearing yesterday was a 4T (the same clothes Hunter wore last summer) the shorts were long but everything else fit him nicely. (note pic) Scary how big he is!!

So after presents we went to do cake. I had made a tool cake and we put two candles on it. I had the camera ready to take a picture of Jonathan blowing out the candles....except that didn't happen....the picture. While we were singing the last of Happy Birthday and Andy was turning the cake around so the candles were closer to Jonathan, he blew them out. In one fell swoop they were out before we could even react!! So we re lit them and got pictures, this time I was ready and he also went slower and blew them out one at a time. It was really funny. The first picture is as Andy is getting ready to turn the cake around, notice he is already starting to blow candles out. The second is the staged blow out.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!!
